The all new Honda Civic

Featured in:
March 2012

The Civic is the mainstay of the Honda range and after the unprecedented success of the 2006 variant the 2012 model has a lot to live up to.
Improved in every area, the new Civic oozes quality, from the stylish exterior to the welcoming, high quality interior. The Honda engineers have left no stone unturned in making this the best Civic yet.

We are thrilled to have a diesel Civic return to the range. The 150 ps 2.2 i-DTEC engine, previously found in the Accord and CR-V, provides spritely performance while achieving a combined mpg of up to 67.3 and an amazingly low 110g/km CO2, meaning the road tax is just £30 per year under current legislation. The two i-VTEC petrol engines, 1.4 and 1.8, have also seen revisions which result in improved performance and lower emissions when fitted to the new Civic.

A confident design with impressive performance and innovative technology really does result in the Civic hitting new highs. Certain Civic features remain, all are improved upon and include the dashboard, centred around the driver, the high standard equipment levels across the range, the rear magic seat configuration which cleverly allows you to create space which arranges around you, manual and automatic transmissions which optimise performance and economy and a wealth of technology which enhances the car’s performance in all areas and keeps you safe and secure.

New features include, across the whole range, Honda’s Intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID) which displays relevant driving details such as mpg, the Idle Stop status and climate and audio settings. Other new additions include a rear wiper, daytime running lights and a headlight-off timer that maintains illumination for fifteen seconds after the car is locked.

In addition, every new Civic comes with Idle Stop fuel-saving technology (manual transmission only) and an ECON switch for the first time. The ECON switch is already found in the Insight and Jazz Hybrid and activating it tells the car’s management system to adopt specific settings to improve fuel consumption. It does so without affecting overall safety levels or the general usability of the car.

Honda’s strong reliability record and reputation for high quality products has helped the new Civic secure impressive residual values and improved insurance group ratings, four to five groups lower in the majority of cases. This ensures the 2012 Civic will have some of the lowest running costs in the C-segment.

Prices start at £16,495 OTR for the entry level 1.4-litre 100PS i-VTEC SE, £17,995 for the 1.8 i-VTEC SE and £20,095 for the 2.2 i-DTEC SE. The car will be available in the familiar SE, ES, EX and EX GT trim levels offering customers generous equipment as standard.

We really could talk all day long about this amazing new car, but there is only one way to experience the new Civic and that is to touch it, feel it and drive it. Please call your Vertu Honda dealership to arrange a test drive. We are thrilled to be able to announce that as an introductory offer we can offer various flexible finance options including 0% finance and low rate pcp schemes.
