Description
Welcome to our first issue of the new year, in which we open the door to wellness with some helpful suggestions for those looking to change unwanted habits, or planning to enjoy a healthier lifestyle.
In this edition you will find plenty of advice on achieving success in your journey to change, including expert tips from personal trainer Ian Eassom, who shares guidance on how to get the best night’s sleep by taking time to do some gentle stretches (page 44).
As Ian explains, many of us have had a hectic run-up to Christmas with perhaps too many late nights and indulgent meals, which can disrupt our sleep patterns, affecting both our physical and mental health, so it’s important that you make time for quality rest and relaxation.
Ian also shares his delicious recipe for a sleep-inducing smoothie, ideal for helping you unwind.
If you’re planning to get out and enjoy a winter walk this month, wildlife enthusiast and navigation tutor Richard Fish shares his passion for outdoor adventures, both within our county and beyond, in his chat with Kate Chapman (p.66).
Getting creative is also a great way to let go of stress. Kate also caught up with super-talented chainsaw sculpture artist Christian Andreolli, whose wood creations and artwork are much in demand (p.28).
Inspired by the natural world around him and a desire not to see anything go to waste, Christian has created a number of giant, eye-catching pieces which now take pride of place outside business premises and private homes worldwide.
Talking of talented people, don’t miss our roundup of prize-winners who impressed the judges in the 2023 Lincolnshire Gardens Trust ‘Unforgettable Gardens’ Photographic Competition with a stunning collection of beautiful imagery (p.22).
If you’re visiting one of our county’s wonderful gardens this year, remember to take some photographs and then enter your favourites for the competition in 2024. Entry forms can be found on the LGT website: https://sites.google.com/view/lincolnshiregardenstrust/home
Wishing all our readers a happy and peaceful transition to 2024 and let’s raise our glasses to a joyful year ahead.
