Cabourne Family Dental Health Practice
For anyone who is nervous about receiving dental treatment, a visit to Cabourne Court Dental Practice, which celebrates its twentieth anniversary this month, could be the start of feeling less worried and more positive about improved dental health.
Opened in September 1993 by Stella Louth B.D.S., L.D.S.R.C.S., a King’s College Dental School, London qualified dentist, the practice has always been located in Cabourne Avenue just off Nettleham Road, Lincoln, close to other healthcare professional practices.
Caroline Cobb, practice manager had worked with Stella previously and came to help open the business. Caroline is still part of the happy and well-qualified team who support Stella, advising and treating patients. Staff turnover is low and patients really appreciate that they see familiar faces; senior nurse, Sam Everington and dental nurse, Amie Smith take great pride in getting to know their patients and their particular dental health problems. Hayley Hari is a dental nurse currently on maternity leave, so her place is being covered temporarily by dental nurse Jenny Mould.
Cabourne Court Dental Practice offers general dentistry, including dentures, as well as cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening. Clients regularly comment that they appreciate the gentle approach that Stella and the rest of her colleagues take in their work.
“Stella is particularly good when dealing with nervous patients or people with a phobia of dentistry,” said Caroline. “It is very important to maintain good oral health throughout your life so we make sure that children are relaxed and enjoy their visit. For adults we can work to build their trust in Stella and our team to gradually tackle issues that could have a detrimental impact on their health and wellbeing if left unattended.”
The aim has always been to promote preventative dentistry; to give instruction on oral hygiene, best products and brushing and encourage this good practice to be maintained at home too.
Stella has always been committed to keeping her own and her team’s qualifications up to date with continued professional development and accredited training through various dental courses. This has served them well, not only from a treatment and patient relationship point of view but also to deal with changes in the healthcare sector.
“When we first began, we offered both NHS and private treatment,” explained Caroline. “Over the next few years, as contract terms evolved, we found that it became increasingly difficult to deliver the range and quality of service under NHS terms. It was a challenge but the decision was made in 2005 to go fully private. Patients seem to have valued our decision as we did not lose many clients and, of those, some later returned to our care.”
More recently the requirement to be audited by the Care Quality Commission every two years was a hurdle which was passed with flying colours, confirming the ‘best practice’ approach taken by the team.
Cabourne Court Dental Practice can accept new patients and you are welcome to call the friendly staff and talk through your requirements.
Who knows, you could be talking to the team who can put a smile instead of a frown on your face about visiting the dentist. Stella would like to take this opportunity to thank patients and staff for their support over the last 20 years.
