Cheeky Monkeys Boutique, who have traded for 10 years in Retford, are now welcoming customers on Guildhall Street, Lincoln, transforming the light and spacious former shoe store into an exciting shopping experience for children between the ages of 0 to 14 years – and for their parents too.
“We really feel we have identified a gap in the market in Lincoln for a children’s store unlike any other in the city centre,” said owner Helen Tonge.

The store has been totally revamped and includes separate baby, girls, boys and shoe departments over two floors.

“Our spring and summer ranges are now in stock with clothing, shoes and gifts by British and European brands such as Mayoral, Frugi organic cotton collection, Joules and Coco, and footwear collections like Start Rite, Lelli Kelly, Geox and Andanines. There are also some fantastic gift ideas by Orange Tree wooden toys and Orchard educational toys. With displays of cards and wrapping, this is a one-stop shop for perfect presents.”

Helen’s aim is to make shopping with youngsters a pleasure and a stunning fitting room on the ground floor is sure to light up everyone’s face. Upstairs there is a fabulous Wii game area, where children can entertain themselves while adults shop.

“We have always prided ourselves on the level of service we provide and customers will find all our staff are fully trained Start Rite fitters, ensuring the perfect fit from first shoes up to adult size 7,” explained Helen. “We stock school shoes too and during July and August we will have a huge range for all tastes and ages ready for the back to school period.”

Helen was the owner of Janel Shoes which previously traded in the same building for over thirteen years prior to Charles Clinkard moving into the premises. Helen is hoping to reconnect with some of the children whose shoes she has fitted over the years, who now may have children of their own.

“It is a very exciting time. We have recruited a fantastic team of experienced retail staff and we are hoping that the people of Lincoln will come and check out Cheeky Monkeys for themselves very soon.”

With more than twenty years’ experience in retail, Helen and her team put customers first: “We offer a layaway service with payment plans, which is already very popular in our Retford store. Customers can pay a 20% deposit and then spread the cost of their shopping, plus we have a Cheeky Monkeys Loyalty Card scheme, where more spending is rewarded with a gift of a £25 voucher.

“We want to get to know our customers and their children, so that the shopping experience will be enjoyable and after every purchase each child will receive a ‘Cheeky Treat’ from us.”
