Classic cars from Woldside
Classic cars don’t have to be the preserve of the wealthy, as Woldside Classic and Sports Car in Louth are keen to demonstrate!
At the moment they have an exciting line-up of 1980s classics which cover the spectrum (and that’s not of the Sinclair variety), from a 1980 Ford Escort MK2 GL to a 1984 Audi Quattro. Many classic enthusiasts are buying the cars they could only dream of in their youth, with the 1980s holding happy memories for many.
The ’80s saw technology becoming integral in cars and the Audi Quattro was cutting-edge with its digital dashboard display and trip computer. Woldside Classic’s car is a 1984 UR Quattro 2 door coupe finished in Alpine White with Brazil cloth upholstery. The only non-standard features of the car is the colour coding of the rear spoiler, door mirrors and the wheels which present nicely. Only 103,000 miles have been covered from new and most unusually, a fully documented history file from new is present showing past expenditure. The original blue VAG book pack is complete with the original service book full of stamps and extended into a second one! There are 26 MOT certificates from present day and dating back to 1990, when the car had covered 63,000 miles – the service book and invoices present confirm the mileage from new until 1990 and beyond.
Yellow appears to have been a popular colour in 1980 and Woldside Classics have two rare examples. The first is a 1980 Ford Escort Mk2 1.3 GL with just 4,392 miles from new. Finished in the factory Signal Yellow, the car presents beautifully, the thirty-six years of careful storage and maintenance is testament to the car’s impeccable condition. It has had just two registered keepers from new and is complete with the original operating guides and manuals, original service booklet, old tax discs and even the original tyres are in the boot! The Signal Yellow colour makes this a very rare car in GL trim and with the truly outstanding condition and the mileage, this is a very rare car.
Even rarer though is the 1980 MG MGB Roadster in Snapdragon Yellow with only 78 (Yes, that’s just 78!) miles from new! The vehicle was manufactured within the final three months of production in 1980 and the supplying MG dealer parked it in the corner of his showroom, unused and unregistered. As emission rules changed in the early 1990s with the introduction of catalytic converters, the dealer owner chose to register the vehicle on new year’s eve 1992 so the car is on a newer than manufactured ‘K’ registration suffix. Timewarp is a phrase overused in the classic world – but not on this occasion. This car is totally original and untouched inside and out. With the car is the original V5 showing just the one owner.
For some 1980s luxury, Woldside Classic and Sports Car have two beautiful Mercedes Benz from that era. Choose from the sporty 1986 facelift model Mercedes 300SL Roadster, with both hard and soft tops, finished in Smoke Silver with black leather or perhaps you may prefer the 1982 Mercedes 200 4dr saloon finished in China Blue with parchment cloth upholstery? This car has covered just 59,998 miles from new by two local owners and can only be described as immaculate, both inside and out.
