RAF Polo Festival
The RAF Equitation Association (RAFEA) Championships took place on the weekend of the 24th and 25th September, and was the second Festival of Equitation to be held in the wonderful setting of RAF College Cranwell. Once again equestrians from the various forces came together for a weekend of competition and development.
The festival is used to nurture all levels of riders in a friendly, competitive atmosphere with riders competing in either dressage, showjumping, cross-country or polo. Eventing was also possible with dressage and showjumping being undertaken as a ‘Combined training’ event and the eventing as a One Day Event (ODE) that was spread over two days.
The polo match on the Saturday evening was between the RAF and Army and was a thrilling performance. The match was commentated on by former Commandant of the Royal Air Force College, Air Commodore Chris Luck, and saw the RAF giving a convincing win at 5-2.
