Woldside gives you confidence when buying a classic

Since their new showroom was launched four years ago, hundreds of delighted customers have purchased their dream car from Woldside Classic and Sports Car in Louth.

Partner Neil Thompson explained that from the outset this has been a hobby as well as a business for him. “I wanted a wide spectrum of cars that have to be of the highest quality. We are offered cars all the time but only purchase the ones that adhere to our standards and we would like to own personally. We have purchased vehicles from all over the UK and also some rare cars from overseas such as the Hugger Orange ’69 Camaro currently in stock.”

Vehicles are also sold overseas with, at the time of writing, two Porsches en route to Finland and Bangkok.

Classic cars don’t have to be as old as you would expect. Some of the most popular cars sold by Woldside can be as recent as the late ’90s or even the early 2000s but they ideally have to be low mileage, low volume models and be of the highest quality. The benefit of these cars is they are quite nice to drive and spares are readily available at reasonable prices.

The choice of vehicles currently offered ranges from a beautiful 1991 Lotus Elan convertible with only one owner and just 16,000 miles recorded, priced at £14,995 to a 2019 Lamborghini Urus with 500 miles, priced at £212,500.

The Woldside team has always been scrupulous in trying to research the provenance of their cars and give prospective clients as much detail before they travel, often hundreds of miles, to view it in the showroom.

“We want clients to have confidence in our description and the vehicle when they make the decision to travel to Louth. We take numerous high resolution photos and produce a video presentation of each vehicle showing clear detail of bodywork, upholstery and how it behaves on the road so people can initially aspire to buy from the comfort of their armchair.”

Filming and presentation of the vehicles for sale is the responsibility of marketing manager, Ingrid Ashton. “Before making the journey, the clients have viewed the videos over and over again and have researched the car often for weeks before travelling. As soon as they arrive they tell us it is a breath of fresh air to walk into our showroom,” said Ingrid.

Neil has a passion for classic Mercedes-Benz models, especially the SL ‘Pagoda’ roadsters from the ’60s and early ’70s, currently there are five such vehicles in various stages of restoration at the garage. The star in the showroom is a rare, fully restored 1970 280SL manual in white priced at £120,000. If British classics are your thing, another iconic vehicle, a locally owned racing green Triumph TR5 is on show priced at £45,000. Just two of the classic cars you can buy with confidence from Woldside Classic and Sports Car.

“From viewing and preparation to selling and delivery, our cars can evoke so much nostalgia and excitement and we want to make this as thoroughly enjoyable an experience as possible. We advise that it is always beneficial to buy the best you can afford rather than the cheapest available with any classic vehicle. They can be a hugely enjoyable tax free investment which can be fairly risk free but you have to maintain them well, both mechanically and cosmetically.”
