There are festive activities and cheer, as well as Santa to visit, a German Christmas Market to inspire your gift giving and trees of all heights in the tree courtyard. Caroline Bingham went along to join in the seasonal fun to make a door wreath in the Elves’ Workshop.

Whatever your age it is hard to resist a craft enhanced Christmas and those lovingly made items certainly add to the magic whether you give them as presents or use in your own home.

CHRISTMAS CRAFTS
So much thought has gone into the Yuletide celebrations at Bell’s Gardening Outlet to ensure that whatever your age or handicraft abilities, you can create something unique – and the Elves are on hand to help you get crafting!
For younger hands there are baubles to paint, glitter and decorate. Mini and midi fir trees grown in the pot will sit perfectly on a dresser or as a table decoration. Once adorned with mini baubles, glitter and in their own red felt pot they will bring cheer to the most compact spot.

GREEN WREATHS
Bell’s have wide experience of making green wreaths; they produce more than 130,000 each season in their Benington production houses which are sold through national supermarkets across the UK. In the Elves’ Workshop there were choices to initially make on which frame to use. There are wire rounds or crosses which can be mossed; straw rings in three sizes to start from scratch by adding spruce, ivy or eucalyptus – or for those who do not want to use secateurs and wire cutters, there are green wreaths ready for you to conjure your own decoration design.

COLOUR THEME
There are more than 30 different ready-wired decorations so the choice was quite overwhelming initially. The mantra that ‘less is more’ is good to bear in mind and sticking to a colour scheme certainly gives a co-ordinated, more professional final appearance. Silver, white and red was my palette but it would have been easy to have been tempted to add gold, or feathers or cones or more from the baskets of baubles. There is a choice of beautiful wired ribbons which can be used for bows and hanging. I resisted adding lights but they are available too. There are also swags and garlands which are perfect for hanging on stair rails or mantelpieces – create your own or work with readymade ropes.

GERMAN CHRISTMAS MARKET
While you craft there are hot refreshments including mulled wine, teas and coffees as well as seasonal treats such as warm mince pies, bratwurst, roasted chestnuts and Schokokuss available from the German Christmas Market which will be open every day until 23rd December. Make sure you have time to wander around the stands with a delightful choice of high quality continental Christmas decorations, Russian dolls, German mechanical toys, nutcrackers, dome lights, nativity scenes and tree toppers.

POP-UP MARKET
Every weekend until 22nd December, select local businesses will be manning stalls in the Pop-Up Market offering unique local produce and gifts including Skegness Gin, confectionery by The Little Chocolatier and Firsby Fudge, clothing from Bella Boutique, Grandma’s Puddings, gifts by Handmade by Daisy, Dees MDF, Fused Kiln Art and MacGregors Emporium, books and so much more…

XMAS TREE COURTYARD
The Bell’s lumberjacks will be on hand to help you choose your perfect real tree from the wide variety of British grown premium grade Nordman Fir (low needle drop) in the Tree Courtyard. They can also help with delivery and collection of your tree so be sure to let them know your requirements.
Happy Christmas and be sure to make some of your Christmas 2019 memories at Bell’s Gardening Outlet.
