Exhibition of a year’s work

November 2012

After an introductory speech in the nave of Lincoln Cathedral by the chancellor Dr Mark Hocknull, ‘The Shire Seen’ exhibition presented by Greg Kapka and Fraser Scarfe went on to open to over 300 guests.
Around eighty works were on show, ranging from dramatic Lincolnshire skies in acrylic to detailed still life oils of Cathedral views.
Many a recognisable face flocked to see these two emerging Lincolnshire artists’ paintings presented professionally in the magnificent surroundings of the Chapter House, the culmination of a year’s work on both their parts. Responding to Lincoln, the shire, its people and its stunning views, the show had everything – from a digital piece on a huge scale by Fraser Scarfe depicting the aspect of the Cathedral from the South Common, to Greg Kapka’s pensive portrait of Lord Tennyson and his poetry.
Once the wine was consumed and sales finalised, the sell-out show remained open for the perusal and delight of the many tourists that Lincoln Cathedral attracts year round. For more pictures and information about the exhibition go to www.kapka.co.uk and www.fraserscarfe.co.uk
