The Grantham saleroom’s August auction totalled over £100,000 with a late Victorian emerald and diamond drop pendant topping the sale with a final bid costing over £10,000.

Impressive results abounded throughout the 789 lot one-day auction. However, rather than feature the big hitters, here are five results of lots selling for under £100.

First, a Kelvin & Hughes World War I telescope dated 1917, which definitely qualifies it as an antique.

As does a late 19th-century French brass cased mantel clock, with circular enamel dial and eight-day movement by AD Mougin. It was even sold with its key, so there are no excuses for not keeping good time.

A more unusual collectable came in the form of a pair of Royal Mint silver commemorative Festival of Britain torpedo cufflinks. That’s first class for the dinner suit. Meanwhile, a pair of fire opal drop earrings in yellow metal could complement any cocktail dress.

Finally, Royal Doulton features at every Antique and Collectors’ auction and this being no exception, the very popular figure Old Balloon Seller HN1315 proved interest is still sky high.
