RAF Scampton Families Day
RAF Scampton hosted their annual Families Day on 1st September. Friends of family of current serving servicemen and women from the camp turned out to visit the camp and see what goes on behind the scenes.
The Heritage Centre was open offering an insight into the life of the Dambusters, as well as the preservation of Guy Gibson’s office and his dog’s grave outside. The hangars were full of aviation history with the fuselage of a Lancaster, many seats from a wealth of different aircraft from the last century and plenty of model aircraft built by enthusiasts. Outside there was plenty to see with cars from the 1920s through to the modern day, fire engines from across the decades and a Mercedes Petronas Formula 1 racing car.
This all culminated in an air display by The Blades Aerobatic Display Team, the Typhoon and the Red Arrows, who brought the day to a close.
