Description
Hello…
How wonderful it is to celebrate the spring and summer months in Lincolnshire with the promise of some exceptional local produce grown on our county farms, just a short distance from your knife and fork. With a call for us to appreciate and use seasonal food more frequently, our features and advertisers include businesses who are championing dishes and menus which reflect local, sustainable, high welfare and products of exceptional quality.
Uncle Henry’s Farm Shop, Butchery and Café is located off the A15 near Kirton in Lindsey. The farm is a destination for family days out with the farm shop offering products from over 45 Lincolnshire producers; a welcoming café and a butchery stocked with produce from their own Lincolnshire Pork Co and much more. Read more on page 28.
Our other featured businesses include The Old Bakery restaurant in Lincoln; The Farm Kitchen based near Sleaford, which creates and delivers over 5,000 meals a day to schools and nurseries across Lincolnshire, Rutland and Cambridgeshire; and Friskney based Grandma’s Pudding Company, a specialist CIC tearoom.
To inspire your own cooking we have colourful and delicious recipes from Wolds based chef Rachel Green. Many readers will be looking forward to Rachel’s appearance in the Demonstration Kitchen at the Lincolnshire Show again this year. Meanwhile see her recipes on page 14.
As you enjoy the forthcoming hazy, lazy days of summer be sure to nominate your favourite businesses and products for Lincolnshire Life Magazine’s Taste of Excellence Awards. You can do this online or by post. Details are on page 26.
