Description

We have really hit the ground running this month and it is very encouraging to see invitations coming into our inboxes to exhibit at county shows and discussions about major events planned for later in the year. We have missed meeting our readers, contributors and partners at these local shows so let us hope that in 2022 we can welcome you, once again, to our stands.

Our feature writers have been busy catching up with more fascinating Lincolnshire people. Kate Chapman firstly spoke with one of British Peloton’s most experienced riders, Lincoln’s Jo Tindley, who was crowned British Champion after her win in her home city last October. Read more on page 28.

Kate’s second interview is with Jill Clark. Jill lives near Louth and is the owner of 1st Choice Animals. While her name may not be familiar, certainly some of her animals will be; their appearances in films and TV series make them some of the best known stars of the silver screen. The story begins on page 78.

Barbara Young chatted to talented county artist Rachel Spencer, who specialises in pet commissions and animal artwork. Rachel loves to share her enthusiasm for all things creative through workshops and tuition sessions. Turn to page 54 to find out more.

Winter weather has been relatively kind to us so far and I certainly have been out in my garden looking out for those first signs of spring.

Steffie Shields, in her gardening article, reminds us that it is important to plan those pops of colour which help to lift the mood this time of year. How right she is when the first aconites, snowdrops and crocuses flower. Steffie also flags up the forthcoming Platinum Jubilee in June and hopes that villages and town centres will plan displays which will ‘pop’ with red, white and blue in honour of the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

Finally, we are Loving Local this Valentine’s Day. Independent retailers and businesses on your high street are ready to help you celebrate with flowers, jewellery, delicious food and more. Whether you are sharing the day with a long time love, planning to go down on one knee or trying to impress a new date, we hope you have an occasion and month to remember.
