Description

As we celebrate the arrival of spring, there’s a lot to look forward to and enjoy as longer days mean more time to go outdoors and get active.

In this issue, Kate Chapman discovers the delights of cycling around the county with members of Cycling UK Lincolnshire, the world’s oldest transport organisation (page 104).

The group’s chair Tim Newbery says new members are always welcome and cyclists of all levels of experience can enjoy exploring our county, whether you ride an ordinary road bike, e-bike, adapted bike or top of the range carbon fibre model.

It’s also a great time to get out in the garden and Downtown’s special Grow With Us 8-page spring gardening supplement has lots of ideas to help add colour and style and create your ideal outdoor space.

Gardening guru Steffie Shields also has a spring in her step as she focuses on the beauty of miniature daffodils (p.24). For more inspiration, she recommends the Daffodil Photo Database (https://daffseek.org/) which includes more than 24,000 photos – you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Spring is also traditionally a popular time for weddings and whether you’re a proud mother of the bride, supportive bridesmaid, or taking centre stage as the bride, you’ll find plenty of helpful advice in our special My Lincolnshire Wedding supplement (p.57).

Before you finalise your planning, don’t miss wedding celebrant Dawn Kemp’s top tips, to help make your special day go without a hitch. Dawn explains that you can replace wedding-day jitters with joy and organised chaos with a sense of calm if you take your time to plan ahead and shares some words of wisdom.

Fabulous food is also on the menu in this issue as I talked to the award-winning team behind yellowbellykitchen, winners of Best Newcomer at our Taste of Excellence Awards 2023 (p.84).

Steve and Brec Whittemore have earned a growing reputation for producing deliciously authentic hand prepared ready meals using traditional, authentic recipes from different regions in India, which Steve has spent extensive time exploring.

However you’re planning to spend your time, have a wonderful month.
